I’ve got the scraping service back up and running.
Some of you were complaining that the recent upgrade had broken Amazon scraping but in fact it’s just Amazon implementing BOT BLOCKING.
To see this, I’ve created a minor upgrade to Price Comparison Pro to add some debug info.
To view the debug info and see what was scraped, use the REFRESH PRICE buttons and view the Javascript console in your browser. You will get all kinds of useful debug output, including – in the case of Amazon – frequently a message to bots (enter a code here etc).
You can bypass the bot blocking with our scraping service and we will be implementing the Amazon API in the near future.
