Firstly, my apologies to those of you not using External Images. We have a change coming very soon which will give you the option to choose which email updates to receive.
A fairly major update to External Images has just been released, but included in it is a change to the folder name. Because of this a manual update is required.
To manually update the plugin, follow these steps:
- Download the new plugin file from your account – https://www.superspeedyplugins.com/my-account/
- Deactivate the plugin on your site
- Delete the plugin on your site
- Upload the new zip file
- Activate the plugin
Changes include many requested features including CSS portrait/landscape image cropping, check image sizes (and grab largest) and Facebook OpenGraph tags. You can view the full list of implemented features here:

We have changelogs in most of the plugins now and we’ll be making those changelogs visible on the product pages soon.
The version I get on download is just 1.5 and then I update again, which puts 1.75 back in place. I don’t see a manual download option for 1.76.

I can see little problem after new version update. I used to have sigle product image clickable – it linked to external affiliate product URL, same as button. I changed file /wp-content/plugins/woocommerce/templates/single-product/product-image.php (child theme way) to make it work and if image was clickable, it really boosted my CTR on affiliate products. I know one solution, to upload product images by the old fasion way, but I think external images are much more powerful way.

Hi – your product-image.php file should NOT require any changes. This update changed the archive-pages only.
When I click the link you gave, I can see the sofa is not clickable. When I view the HTML, I see no anchor tag, only this:
Hi – can you update to 1.76 please? There were two updates today – the first added all the features but introduced the bug you mentioned and the 2nd fixed that bug.
I made the update and afterwards I noticed that product images are not anymore visible on my websites front page where I use “Featured products” widget. I also tried the default “Latest products” -widget and it was the same. I also changed theme to the basic theme, and it was the same. My webpage is http://vaatehaukka.fi
The new plugin works in the shop, but outside the shop it doesn’t seem to work – the previous version worked outside shop as well (e.g. in website front page widget).
