Price comparison Plugin Pro – Amazon

Aaron M. asked 7 years ago

Hi there, i seem to be having problems with this plugin, i hope you can help me.

I have:

Setup a clean install of wordpress

Installed a free woocommerce theme from the wordpress directory

installed woocommerce

installed 'Price comparison Plugin Pro'

Checked to see if the CSS selectors were still current, from what i could see they are.

Created my first product, inserted comparison links for ebay and amazon.

and.......nothing

Neither of them are finding me any prices, its pulled the logos but its just stuck on 'Checking...' Amazon stuck on- Checking... 0s, ebay stuck on checking...7m 18s timer is working but no price.

Any suggestions? Is there something obvious i may have missed?

Kind Regards

Aaron

Any luck?

Aaron M. replied 7 years ago

Hi Vasil, sorry for the delay, i have sent you an email with details for cPanel Access

Vasil Y. replied 7 years ago

Aaron, did you get my last email about the cPanel?

Aaron M. replied 7 years ago

I have sent another email, changed the password to make it a little easier

Vasil Y. replied 7 years ago

Hey Aaron, as I said in the email – the info doesn’t work, as per the dev’s words. Can you please double check and resend? Thank you very much.

Aaron M. replied 7 years ago

Hi Vasil, i have sent you an email with the login info

Vasil Y. replied 7 years ago

Aaron, are you able to grant us admin access to your website so that we can fix this up? A dev will need it in order to help. Please send the info to my private email – [email protected]

Vasil Y. replied 7 years ago

Aaron, I will refer your issue to a dev first thing tomorrow morning and make sure it is resolved with a day or two max. Something specific must be affecting you if even the newest update doesn’t work for you. Will get back to you ASAP.

Aaron M. replied 7 years ago

Hi Vasil,
Sadly it still isn’t working for me, I installed the update and now i have some proxy and Scraper Configuration options appear.
I deleted the WordPress install, installed a clean version, installed the updated plugin along with woocommerce, and it still isn’t working.

Where you said “you were unable to add the websites via the add website button and configure them due to not selecting the radio button”, there wasn’t any radio buttons until i installed the update and the only ones there are under proxy and scraper config. Which radio button are you referring to?

I have done the following in this order:
Display in woocommerce: checked
Cache Age: set
Deleted showcase config
Proxy and scraper Config: standard scraping (already Selected) – note: i have also tried basic with a proxy set, and the option to run through your servers also.
Saved settings
Set 2 different websites to scrape with selectors.
Saved settings

Created a product and put 2 urls.

I still get Checking…. and no price.

What would you suggest i try next?

Vasil Y. replied 7 years ago

Hey Aaron, apologies for the delay – it has been due to the end of the year festivities! We were able to recreate the issue on the demo and Dave rolled out a fix for it. You were unable to add the websites via the add website button and configure them due to not selecting the radio button. Please do so, then add a new website (from wherever you wish to scrape, as I explained to you to configure), and try again! Let me know how that goes for you.

Aaron M. replied 7 years ago

Any update on this? still haven’t been able to use this plugin since purchase

Vasil Y. replied 7 years ago

Trying to recreate your issue Aaron, I’ll see what might be affecting you and get back to you tomorrow. Thanks for your patience.

Aaron M. replied 7 years ago

I’ve tried lots of different amazon products, here’s one for example https://www.amazon.co.uk/Xbox-One-White-Wireless-Controller/dp/B01GVN10VM

Vasil Y. replied 7 years ago

Can you please send me one of the specific product links that you want to scrape from? The amazon product for example.

Aaron M. replied 7 years ago

Ok so deleting the “display case configuration” so that there are none left and then clicking on add website and filling in 5 different URL’S, logos and selectors.
It still isn’t working, for every one of them it just says checking…, the last checked time goes up but i get no price.

What are the server requirements for this plugin?

Vasil Y. replied 7 years ago

Yes. I really do not see you configuring the URLs from which you want to fetch prices? On the bottom, where it says “Website configuration”, i see only the default configurations which come with the plugin and are simply a display case. You need to configure the websites which you want to scrape from in the same manner in the empty fields under the display case configuration ( by pressing “Add website”). From there you add the URL, the logo and the CSS selector.

Aaron M. replied 7 years ago

Any ideas?

Aaron M. replied 7 years ago

Sorry for the late reply, here is a screenshot of the config page. https://postimg.org/image/b0j8tiz97/

Vasil Y. replied 7 years ago

Hey Aaron. Your version shouldn’t be a problem, 1.7 works perfectly with Amazon both with us and other customers. We can’t tell what the issue is until we see a screenshot of the amazon configuration on the pcp page. (The pcp config screen) . There is simply no way of knowing what might be affecting you. If you can provide that, I’ll see to it that your problem is resolved.

Aaron M. replied 7 years ago

Theres not much to see in the comparison plugins setting page its all pretty much standard other than yes i clicked the box to run through woocommerce.

Checked if the selectors were still active for ebay and amazon and they looked to be.

Are you able to get amazon and ebay links to work in your demo?

WordPress: 4.6.1
Theme: Twenty Sixteen Theme
Woocommerce: 2.6.8
Comparison plugin pro: says 1.7 on the plugins page with note: (There is a new version of WordPress Price Comparison Pro available. View version 2.0 details or update now.) update button says plugin update doesnt exist.

Appreciate the help

Vasil Y. replied 7 years ago

http://demo.superspeedyplugins.com/price-comparison-demo/ – You can see a working demo here. In order to determine what’s wrong with your configuration or otherwise, are you able to provide screenshots of the plugin’s setting page? Also, did you use shortcodes or did it through woocommerce? Which version of the plugin are you using? I’ll try and help you the best I can.

Aaron M. replied 7 years ago

Thanks for getting back to me Vasil,

The guide above just confirmed that i have set up the plugin correctly ‘twice’, along with a clean install, this plugin should work, but it doesn’t.

Unless you can send me a link to a demo that works I will be asking for a refund and looking for an alternative.

Vasil Y. replied 7 years ago

Hey there Aaron, I believe something is wrong with your installation or configuration. There is a very detailed step by step guide on how to configure it – please follow the link below step by step via the screenshots.

Second attempt,

Clean install number 2, used wordpress pre-installed theme, installed woocommerce, installed comparison plugin, inserted comparison links and yet again nothing….. Do you guys have a working example of this plugin? the ‘basic version’ link you have on the product page leads to a blank install…

I would ideally like to start using this plugin.

Hi John, thank you for your response. Do you know when this upgrade is likely to be released?

I’m having the same problem and don’t want to wait three month for a resolution. I want my money back now, this does not work as nice and easy as promised.

<a href="https://youtu.be/b0SKavOTsVc" rel="nofollow">https://youtu.be/b0SKavOTsVc</a>

The link above is a video showing how to grab the CSS Selectors for your site. If this is still causing you problems, we also have this service:

<a href="https://www.superspeedyplugins.com/shop/per-website-configuration-service-price-comparison-pro/" rel="nofollow">https://www.superspeedyplugins.com/shop/per-website-configuration-service-price-comparison-pro/</a>

Where we will configure your site on a per site basis.

We do know that this is an area that some customers experience difficulty with – and we plan for an upgrade to Price Comparison Pro this month to improve the functionality of setting CSS selectors.

If a refund is still required, please email [email protected] 🙂

Hi,

Can you tell me do you have fopen enabled in your PHP file?

We recently found this issue on a clients site – if you are not getting ANY prices at all, it’s likely fopen is disabled.

You can enable it by editing your php.ini file – if you’re using cPanel then there is a cPanel way.

We have added this to our troubleshooting guide on our suport page for Price Comparison Pro.

Aaron M. replied 7 years ago

Thank you Dave! i now have prices 🙂

This issue has been driving me mad, whilst doing my own (attempted) problem solving i actually enabled fopen for each php version in whm, not knowing that this might be the issue i didn’t think to check if the changes had actually reached the php.ini file, turns out it didn’t (i guess my permissions are a little bit screwed).

I can now start using this plugin at last 🙂
