Allow filtering products by any custom taxonomy terms (e.g. brand or product tag) – new FWW Fast Custom Taxonomy Widget

Krzysztof shared this feature

July 2, 2020

Can you please add a new FWW Fast Custom Taxonomy Widget, so we can use any custom taxonomy for filtering our products and all FWW filters can be used on term archive pages?

e.g.
/product-tag/tag-slug
/brand/nike/
/tax-base/term-slug/

More on this (see point 5): https://trello.com/c/qy1GHWHG/41-fww-add-generated-sitemap-urls-tab-and-allow-users-to-configure-top-and-bottom-text-including-bulk-edit#comment-5e8b51e7f4f85802626d32b9

Implementing this would resolve the issues with the ‘brand’ plugins:

I was just about to make this suggestion as well. I am getting tired of maping all datafeed categories into one from noumerous niche merchants. It is allways changing and having ability to add more detailed subpages with additional ability to filter, with proper headers and titles, will be a bingo for me.

This way I will be able to make smaller amount of “beefy” websites, instead of the large amount of medium sized websites.

I recommend that you use the attributes – you will have the ability to filter, with proper headers and titles.

      e.g.
      /shop/attribute-slug/
      /shop/camel/
      https://foundthru.com/shop/camel/

One disadvantage of this method is that the attributes are not hierarchical.

There is just one more thing to do:
Display product attribute term description on attribute archive pages (e.g. camel attribute description on: /shop/camel/ ), but it should be an easy fix.

In this way, you no longer need to use brand plugins etc.

I’d appreciate any comments and help anyone can provide with testing the new feature to address this feature request – more info available here: https://www.wpintense.com/2021/03/01/adding-a-custom-taxonomy-widget-to-faster-woo-widgets/
